PRESS RELEASE

The Condor is a portable, PN scanner used to measure and record coverage (Ec/Io) of IS-95B and CDMA 2000 base stations. Condor measures active 1XRTT networks operating in BOTH PCS and Cellular frequencies using a precision dual band receiver. CDMA transmitters such as Berkeley’s Crocodile™ or Gecko™ may be set to different base station PN offsets and the Condor will measure and record their true Ec/Io signal. These CDMA signals are then grouped and displayed on a laptop PC via USB or RS-232 ports according to user parameters. Condor includes internal GPS receiver for LAT and LON recording, but does not require GPS acquisition for operation. Optional model upgrades also include ability to detect if network is EVDO or 1xRTT capable.

The Condor Data Logger is the software package written specifically for the Condor PN Scanner. It allows logging and storing of all Ec/Io data collected. this data is then easily imported into an array of popular post processing applications for further analysis.

The Active Walsh Code screen shows the power distribution for each of the 64 Walsh Codes. The different channels are color-coded and represent the pilot, sync, paging, and traffic channels. There will always be 1 pilot (code 0) and 1 sync channel (code 32). The paging channels will appear in code slots 1 thru 7 and traffic channels may appear in any of the remaining slots.

FAQs

Does Condor require a GPS antenna to function?

No. The Condor gets all its necessary GPS data (base station ID, time and date) by demodulating the sync channel.

Does Condor requires a laptop to scan?

Condor does not need a laptop PC to operate as all of its vital functions are displayed on the built-in LCD and controllable via menus and a single push knob. However, a laptop PC is still recommended for any serious CDMA studies in order to store vital data and parameters.
