Does RoadHound track or locate phones?

No. RoadHound is a simple detection and deterrent alert in the form of an electronic road sign. It does not track, communicate or locate drivers or their distracting electronic devices in any way.

Does RoadHound take pictures or issue summons or tickets?

No. RoadHound is similar to electronic radar speed signs on the side of the road because it merely warns and reminds drivers that they might be violating safe driving practices. It cannot commmunicate, record or capture any driver/vehicle information.

How does RoadHound know the difference between passengers using cell phones and drivers using cell phones?

RoadHound cannot discriminate between cell phone users users. It is only used to detect, alert and deter distracted drivers. RoadHound is not triggered by nearby pedestrians, outbound traffic or residential or businesses using cell phones.

What kind of antenna is used by the RoadHound?

RoadHound employs a custom cell phone detection engine coupled with a custom directional linear antenna array. It only triggers from cell phone use detected in vehicles approaching the sign approximately 25-200 feet away.

Does the RoadHound provide alerts?

RoadHound utilizes 8 daylight viewable LEDs (similar to crosswalk signs) that flash when a nearby cell phone triggers the detector. RoadHound can also display custom messages containing up to 30 characters.

Is RoadHound sold as a kit?

RoadHound is typically sold to municipalities and other local traffic authorities as a turnkey solution.
