Did you know that the Amtrak engineer responsible for 200 injuries and 8 deaths was DISTRACTED by radio conversations?
Whether your drivers are operating a train, fleet vehicle or heavy machinery, TransitHound will enforce a NO CELL PHONE USE policy where an impaired or distracted operator can endanger lives. TransitHound’s system works simply…when any voice, text or cellular data is detected from within the cab, train locomotive or depot station, TransitHound timestamps the event and triggers video or still recording of the distracting incident. Additional alarms and warnings may also be implemented to immediately deter operators from using distracting devices.
For bluetooth detection, BlueHound enhances railway safety efforts as well.
For railway systems with ethernet networks already in place, we also offer TransitHound-PoE delivering power and data all over the same ethernet network connection.

Can the TransitHound be used to locate cell phones?
No, because TransitHound is usually deployed in a fixed position, it precludes the possibility to “triangulate” and locate the source of RF signals. By contrast, a hand-held cell detector like the Wolfhound-PRO can locate cellphones by taking two or more bearings (or, Lines of Position) of the source.
Can the TransitHound run out of power?
No, because the TransitHound does not use batteries, it derives its power externally.
Can the TransitHound store data?
TransitHound stores no data except for measurement threshold settings.
What kind of antenna is used by the TransitHound?
TransitHound can be deployed either with an included omni-directional or optional directional antenna. TransitHound antennas are typically hidden somewhere in the cab or vehicle and connected to the unit via hidden cabling.
Does the TransitHound provide audible or visual alerts ?
The unit itself does not but TransitHound can be connected directly to a variety of audible and visual alerts including a camera and DVR for video and time stamping all cellular activity events.
Does TransitHound identify callers or their phone numbers?
No. TransitHound is a simple, low-cost RF scanning device that simply triggers when nearby cellphone activity is detected. It does not demodulate, intercept nor communicate with any cellular devices.
