Accidents and fatalities due to operator distraction continue to rise on mining and construction sites due to the ubiquity of cell phones used everywhere. Wireless and ferrous detection devices can screen for unauthorized cellular phones but once an operator is behind the wheel with a phone, it might be too late. RoadRunner detects and timestamps all nearby cellular activity which can be used to alert or discipline distracted operators as well as for insurance and evidence in legal proceedings.
RoadRunner is a rugged, self-contained solution that includes its own internal power source, high resolution camera system and precision cellular detection receiver utilizing direction finding antenna to pinpoint wireless sources of distraction.
As cell phone detection and security experts, BVS has designed and implemented tens of thousands of systems in law enforcement facilities, railway cars, prisons, schools, military bases and government buildings. TransitHound and BlueHound detect distracted operators of railway trains and heavy machinery while Yorkie and PocketHound detect illegal and dangerous contraband cellular devices in prisons and government secured facilities all over the world.

Does RoadRunner track or locate phones?
No. RoadRunner is a simple cellular detection and time stamping camera system. It does not track, communicate or locate drivers or their distracting electronic devices in any way.
Can RoadRunner be used to detect distracted driving on public roads?
RoadRunner is designed for heavy machinery operators. We sell RoadHound to law enforcement and municipalities for detection of distracted drivers on public roads.
Does RoadRunner directly communicate wirelessly with any managers or authorities?
No. RoadRunner cannot communicate wirelessly because it would falsely trigger its own cellular receiver. RoadRunner stores timestamped photos and videos to be retrieved typically at the end of the work day.
How does RoadRunner know the difference between passengers using cell phones and drivers using cell phones?
RoadRunner cannot discriminate between cell phone users users but since most mining and construction sites do not allow any cell phone use while operating heavy machinery, RoadRunner will document all cellular detection.
What kind of antenna is used by the RoadRunner?
RoadRunner employs a custom cell phone detection engine coupled with a sensitive directional antenna. It only triggers from cell phone use approximately 25-200 feet away.
Does the RoadRunner provide alerts?
RoadRunner provides built in alerts that appear on the unit’s LCD itself. RoadRunner also provides dry contacts for wired external alerts too.
